Lime Wedges-SOLD- (Click here to see auction results on eBay)

SOLD
I found a great looking small dish to drop some lime wedges into. I like the limited color in this piece. I think I'm painting some cherries in a silver dish next that will be very red white and blue. Click on the image for a larger view.

Salt and Pepper-SOLD- (Click here to see auction results on eBay)

SOLD

This is Thursday nights painting. I had trouble this week trying to keep up with my illustration work, Stephanies two commissions, and producing this piece. I wanted to paint someting simple and I had this and some more coffee setups to paint from, so salt and pepper won. Click on the image for a larger view.

Homemade Jam (commission, not for sale)

This is the jar of homemade jam that I painted for Stephanie Radu. I think I have two other people that own at least three of my paintings now. Click on the image for a larger view.

Laura Scutter's Peanut butter (commission, not for sale)

This is a painting of a favorite brand of peanut butter for Stephanie Radu in California. She also bid on and won the peanut butter and jelly sandwich from last month and had this painting and a jar of homemade jam commissioned. Click on the image for a larger view.

Oreo Cookies and Milk-SOLD- (Click here to see auction results on eBay)

SOLD
This was supposed to be a looser thicker painted painting of Oreos and milk, but as usual I chickened out and started rendering. I know I would like the painting just as much with bold thick paint, but I worry that other people that I want to purchase it might not like it as much. It's the way I always painted as an illustrator and it's tought to break away. Click on the image for a larger view.

Footbridge-SOLD- (Click here to see auction results on eBay)

SOLD

This is a second layout that I painted from photos that Luis Colan has let me use. He went on a trip to North Carolina, from New York City, and took a bunch of great shots. Looks like he had a great day of sunshine. That never happened for me when I had a chance to shoot a great location. I took two trips to the Grand Canyon and one to Zion, and never saw the sun. Blueberry Muffin-SOLD- (Click here for Auction results on eBay)

SOLD

Guess who's on a terrible diet still. My wife tries to feed me healthy meals and all I can think of as subject matter are candy and pastry. Click on the image for a larger view.

Yellow House-SOLD- (click here to see Auction results on eBay)

SOLD

This was a house in Vermillion South Dakota that we shot the same day we shot the porchlight house. I liked the pale yellow hue of the paint and the sun striking the side of the house. The gravel driveway was kind of unusaual. These are great old houses built in the 40's and 50's. Click on the image for a larger view.

Shady Creek-SOLD-(Click here to see Auction results on eBay)

SOLD

I've been wanting to get back into landscapes for a while now, even more than wanting to paint something figurative. I'm still trying to figure out what kind of portrait or person to paint, but I'm getting closer to figuring that out. I was hoping a figurative piece would be next, but Luis Colan was kind enough to let me paint this piece from one of the photos he took while on a trip to Asheville, North Carolina. He also took some great shots of a Koi pond that I'm eager to paint. This is like a candy store

Mom (not for sale)

This is a painting I did of my Mom for my Dad's birthday on the 14th. I don't know if she liked it too much, the painting is real honest and it looks like her, but it wasn't the most flattering expression and pose. It's funny but, I can paint them with all thier imprefections, age spots and wrinkles, but I'm afraid to put the same kind of honesty in other peoples poses. Click on the image for a larger view.

Dad 2006 (not for sale)

This is a portrait I did of my Dad 2 or 3 months ago. I gave it to my mom for Mother's day. I was really proud of this because of how I handled it so loosely. To my eye, there is alot of detail here, because the arms, T-shirt, and coveralls look exactlly like they were. Any more rendering of the surfaces would have ruined it. Click on the image for a larger view.

Bread and Butter-SOLD- (Click here to see auction results on eBay)

SOLD
I really had fun painting the oil and bread last week, so I decided to paint my first favorite thing to put on homemade bread. Click on the image for a bigger view.

More Cream Please-SOLD- (Click here to see Auction results on eBay)

SOLD
Those of you that know my wife, should know she has a little bit of coffee with her cream. I'm trying to solve this problem by shopping for coffee flavored cream and we can just forget about buying coffee. I'm just about as bad. Click on the image for a larger view.

Candycorn-SOLD-(Click here to see Auction results on eBay)

SOLD

This is a candy dish of my mom's with your typical Halloween candy corn (daughter Kacey's favorite). I liked the nostalgic aspect of the candy corn, and the sparkle of the bowl. Click on the image for a larger view.

Pretzels-SOLD- (click here to see Auction results on eBay)

SOLD
I'm experimenting with todays painting. Instead of listing this in the featured section of eBay's art categories for $24, I'm going to list it in the general listings for $4. I'm trying to find out if I can not only save money, but see how many people look at this piece, and also how easy it is for people to still find all my work, featured or not. So far, after 12 hours, 10 people have visisted the page. Not too good. It may be a while before I post these in the general listings. Click on the image for larger view.

Cinnamon Roll-SOLD- (Click here to see Auction results on eBay)

SOLD
I think I'll title this one "Cinnamon Rolls go Straight to my Butt". They always remind me of this funny card that my nephew gave Kerry once. Click on the image for a larger view.

Olive Oil and Bread-SOLD- (Click here to see Auction results on eBay)

SOLD
This is a painting of an olive oil dispenser and a slice of Italian bread. One of the best freebies from Panera Bread. Couldn't tell you what kind of bread they use, but this was a piece of French. Click on the image for a larger view.

Peach half with Wedge SOLD (Click here to see auction results)

I've been meaning to paint a peach from the very start of this painting project, mostly because it has always been a favorite of all artists at one time or another. C'ezanne was probably the artist that painted them and made them the most famous as still life subject matter. Still life with Cupid wasn't appreciated by me in my earlier years, but today I'm amazed at how he can paint. Click on the image for a larger view.

Twinkie -SOLD-(click here to see Auction results on eBay)

SOLD

This is another snack I stole from my mom's cache of sweets that she keeps in her house all the time. I have a cookie jar and candy jar coming up that I want to paint too, along with a bowl of candy corn. Click on the image for a larger view.

Toast and Jelly-SOLD-(Click here to see Auction results on eBay)

SOLD
This is a painting I did of a piece of toast with strawberry jelly that I shot the same day we set up the pancakes and eggs and toast painting. I really liked the glowing jelly with the big blue highlights coming from the picture window. My diet isn't getting any better tho, tonight I shot Doritos, candy corn, and a piece of chocolate cake with white frosting. It was my Dad's birthday and there's always alot of junkfood around my mom's house.

Oranges with VaseSOLD-(Click here to see results Auction results on eBay)

SOLD
This still needs work, but I have until Tuesday night to go back into it. I like the moody dim light of this setup but the piece needs some more dramatic darks and lights without raising the light level. Matter of fact, I forgot to put the top of one of the chairs in the reflection on the vase. Click on the image for a larger view.

Cheesecake-SOLD-(Click here to see Auction results on eBay)

SOLD
We've been searching for some good cheesecake in town but after looking for a week, my wife finally brought home a whole pie made from the Cheesecake Factory. Bad idea. I was lucky to be able to shoot the last piece and even that one didn't have as many cherries on it as I wanted. I think we have a mouse in the house. Click on the image for a larger view.

Porchlight-SOLD-(click here to see Auction results on eBay)

SOLD
This is a house we passed in Vermillian South Dakota one evening when we were out shooting barns and pancakes. How's that for variety? I really like this time of evening. Golden hour to photographers because you're lucky to even have an hour of this golden light. Light enough to see everything with long shadows, but dark enough that lights can be seen. Click on the image for a larger view.

Caramel Macchiato-SOLD-(click here to see Auction results on eBay)

SOLD
My wife wants to keep this one, but in order to be able to go to "fourbucks", we'll have to auction it. Click on the image for a larger view.

A Bing Cherry-SOLD-(click here to see Auction results on eBayI

SOLD

This is a 5 x 7 of a single bing cherry. It's a darker red than the everyday cherry, but like the peppermint, it was free from my mom's house. The next paintings are going to be healthier. I shot some setups of a peach that looks like they're going to be fun to paint. Click on the image for a larger view.

Peppermint candy-SOLD-(Click here to see Auction results on eBay)

SOLD

This is your typical peppermint candy. Not my favorite, but they're free after every meal in practically any resturant.

Egg and Toast-SOLD-(Click here to see Auction results on eBay)

SOLD
Here's the other half of the order the other night at House of Pancakes. I also have a side plate of bacon and some toast with jelly coming up soon. Click on the picture to view a larger image.

Pancakes-SOLD- (Click here to see Auction results on eBay)

SOLD
Here's a stack of pancakes that I've been planning on painting for a month. We were too hungry to even take time to shoot a plate of flapjacks in the place we ate last week. I was planning on a smiley face written in syrup, but it didn't cooperate at all. Unlke a food stylist, I had only one plate to get it right. Click on the image for a larger view.

Carrot Cake-SOLD- (Click here to see auction results on eBay)

SOLD
This is a painting of a piece of carrot cake. It was the only thing at Starbucks that appealed to me for color and texture.I need to paint this larger without the plate, because the frosting with the squiggly drips going across the walnuts was the best part, and it doesn't show up as well I I thought it would

Kitten (Not for sale, commissioned)

This is a portrait of a kitten I did for a lady in Del Mar California. Click on the image for a larger view.

Ice Cream Cone-SOLD- (Click here to see auction results on eBay)

SOLD
This is my favorite treat that my wife talks me into either after, or just before one of these auctions end. They're great any time of year, but especially in the summer. Click on the image for a larger view.

Lemon with a Wedge-SOLD-(Click here to see results on eBay)

SOLD
This is a lemon and wedge painted on a 5x7 panel. I shot this one day and experimented with different numbers and arrangements that I thought a 5x7 panel could hold. To me, it's either just a lemon, or maybe a lemon and one or two wedges at the most before things get crowded. Any more and you have to let things get cut off which can be nice arrangements too. The most interesting part of this painting to me isn't the lemon or the wedge, but the wet pools of juice on the dry cutting board, and the refracted light inside the puddles.
