White Rock (Click here to view eBay results)

I could have sworn I posted and wrote about this painting already, but I guess I was dreaming. To many web things to do along with painting and illustration work to even think straight anymore. Anyway, this painting is from a batch of photos I took of the Elfin Forest area near San Marcos, California. It has a nice clean stream running down the canyon with plenty of foliage and rock formations on both sides to create some great designs. Click on the image for a larger view.

Sprig of Grapes (Click here to view eBay results)

Here's a layout of some grapes. I tried a bowl of grapes a couple of months ago and had fun painting the subtle textures and colors then, so I thought I would try again. Click on the image for a larger view.

Smoked Gouda (Click here to view eBay results)

How's this for looking old world. I've been wanting to get out to find new things to paint. I just about got there today but it got too late to have good light. Hopefully tomorrow. Click on the image for a larger view.

Diced Peaches (Click here to view eBay results)

Here's a scene of a peach being diced up. I really don't want to render and blend any of these daily paintings. Instead I want to pile on the paint and push it around to it's eventual resting place, and if I don't hit the right color, value, or hue the first time, then no problem. I think looking at a painting and seeing some of the process is one of the things I enjoy most about painting, so why hide it in my work. Click on the image for a larger view

Chocolate Krispy Kreme (Click here to view eBay results)

I didn't realize it until now, but I've painted a Krispy Kreme Chocolate before, but I thought it was a Caramel flavored one. Oh well, this is now Krispy Kreme Chocolate #2. If I can't find anything else to paint I may have to take a shot at the carmel flavored frosting. Click on the image for a larger view.

Tomato Juice (Click here to view eBay results)

Here's a painting of some sliced tomatoes that I painted from a photo shoot from last summer. I need to go out and find some new props. New knives, cutting boards, and table cloths would be great for a start, then try to stage the scene in some more creative light. Click on the image for a larger view

Avocado with Knife (Click here to view eBay results)

This is another painting from life. I think it's easier to do it this way as long as the fruit you are painting isn't wilting or turning brown on you as try to finish it. I know a sliced apple will brown up in a half an hour. Click on the image for a larger view.

Two Red Potatos (Click here to view eBay results)

This is my first time to paint potatos and I was surprised to see how deep red these things really are. I painted these from life to see if there's a difference in the way the the details are displayed, and the only thing I found out is that the feel of the lighting and color were better, but the detail was put in at the same degree that I would if I had painted them from a photo. Mostly because I couldn't see the detail as easily. My eyes aren't what they used to be and I hate wearing glasses to paint. I think I like painting from life better but it is more work. Slice of Melon 2 (Click here to view eBay results)

This is a slice of watermelon that I've painted before and thinking back it was alot of fun trying to control the greens and reds that are both in muted tones but are still rich with color and texture. Click on the image for a larger view.

One yellow Onion (Click here to view eBay results)

I've painted onions before and was amazed then at the amount of interesting surfaces, colors and textures that are in something as simple as these vegetables. They are definately a harder thing to paint than you would think. Click on the image for a larger view.

One Lemon (Click here to view eBay results)

Here's another rendition of a lemon setup that I shot last summer. I always wanted to take this idea one step further and paint a scene with a picture of lemonade and a glass of the ice cold juice, but we never did have an nice pitcher around that I thought was the classic type, and if you don't have the props you think you need, you just wait till you do. Peeled Apple (Click here to view eBay results)

I've been on a diet lately, and this is just one of the healthier foods I've been trying to eat. It's funny how much better an apple tastes when you peel the skin and carve it into little chunks. Better than just biting into one anytime. Click on the image for a larger view.

Sticky Bun (Click here to view eBay results)

Here's scene I shot six months ago, and for some reason I didn't like it then. I think it was the colors. Too brown for me at the time. Anyway, it was alot more fun to paint this week. Click on the image for a larger view.
