"A Corner of Times Square" SOLD (Click here to view results on eBay)

This is a scene of Times Square in New York City, shot around midnight, in August of 2007. It was probably still 90 degrees yet and the crowds were just getting thicker. Everyone was having a great time shopping in places that were still open, and we were either just going, or coming back from a visit to The Perfect Pint, a great Irish pub just one block off of the square. "Spring Rain in Washington State" SOLD (Click here to view results on eBay)

This is a scene of the south fork of the Snoqualmie River that flows past Seattle from the East. It took me 6 hours to travel 90 miles as I stopped around every bend of the river to take shots. There were so many amazing landforms and cascading waterfalls that I felt like I would regret it if I didn't record everything that I knew would one day make a great painting. "Lilie Pads" SOLD (Click here to view results on eBay)

This scene was painted from shots I took while visiting Central Park last August. There's the famous Bethesda Fountain near the body of water that they call the lake that I found these water lilies. I have quite a few more scenes from this spot that I hope to get to soon. Click on the image for a larger view.

"The Path Taken" SOLD (Click here to view results on eBay)

A couple of weeks ago my daughter Kacey and I took a trip up to Flagstaff so she could snowboard, and I could shoot some winter scenes of the area. It was a tough day to shoot photos for a couple of reasons. The worst being that there wasn't any place to park on the road up to the Snow Bowl. The rangers warned me twice not to stop, and the second tough obstacle was my shoes. I wore tennis shoes and the area had at least four feet of snow everywhere. Needless to say, I shot most of my reference from only ten feet from my car. Click on the image for a larger view.

"Roots Exposed" SOLD (Click her to view results on eBay)

This is a scene I've been wanting to try to paint for quite a while. The Grand Canyon is an amazing sight to view but even more amazing is the view you see as you approach the rim. If you travel away from the prepared areas for tourist and do a little hiking, you can see some of the sights that some of the first explorers of the canyon saw for the first time. The quietness is deafening too. Click on the image for a larger view.

"Malibu Morning" SOLD (Click here to view results on eBay)

I'm in the second to last night in my home at Dakota Dunes where we have lived for the last 14 years and as we were packing piles of paintings, frames and studio equipment, I came across this little sunrise scene of Malibu Beach that I painted back in '03. It was 5 in the morning when I arrived at the beach that day, but didn't see this first light until about 6:15. Better to get there early if you want to see some real drama.
My intention then was to just concentrate on a bunch of California beach scenes that I used to visit with my family. If I was going to become a fine arts painter, I wanted to paint something that really blew mw off my feet and I remember seeing the Pacific and tasting the salt water as if it were yesterday.
I first moved to California in 1974 and I wished I had taken more pictures of what things looked like then because I know things have changed alot in 38 years. I'm feeling pretty old right now thinking there were no such things as cell phones and the internet back then, and even the cars were big and ugly. Click on the image for a larger view.

"The Late Show" SOLD (Click here to view results on eBay)

This will be my last painting that I will post for at least a week. I'm traveling back to South Dakota to pack up my house and studio and moving it all out here to Arizona. I thought it would be fitting to paint a scene from here so I went back into my files and found a scene I shot just about two years ago in the same season. Click on the image for a larger view.

A Midnight Snack SOLD (Click here to view results on eBay)

I was amazed at the mumber of these food carts in Manhattan. There are everywhere at all hours of the day, and the foods and drinks that they serve are just as varied. Click on the image for a larger view.

Pausing on the Bridge SOLD (Click here to view results on eBay)

This was one of the first intersting landmarks that I saw when I visited New York City last year. We had just finished watching the Yankees beat the Red Sox up in the Bronx, and on the way back down the island of Manhattan on the subway, we jumped off at 72nd street and just inside Central Park at that location is the Lake. That's the name of the lake that the Bow Bridge crosses. Simply, the Lake. There are five other bodies of water in the park, the largest being the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Resivoir. The others are the Harleem Meer, the Pool, the Turtle Pond, and finally, the Pond which it in the southeastern corner, across from the Four Seasons Hotel. Click on the image for a larger view.

Street Musicians SOLD (Click here to view results on eBay)

I won't soon forget my first painting signed '08. Last week, when I was lazily working on this painting, and an illustration project, while also watching the New Years Day line-up of College football games, my laptop decided to not re-start. My keyboard froze, which was the only sign I had to make me think I was headed for a disaster.
Three days later and about $4000,00 I have a safe system again. A new machine, and an external hard drive to back up my work. I can now sift through months of photos that I didn't save because I forgot to bring a firewire cable from South Dakota. The external drive was here, but I couldn't connect to it nightly. Just last month we had a similar problem with my daughter Kacey's system. Why wasn't I listening to my own best advice?
