"Superstition" 11" x 14" (Click here to bid on eBay)

This view of Superstition was from some shots I took back in '06 when I first visited the site and decided to make it a frequent challenge to paint. It is amazing how many times I've seen it in the dozens of hues and lit drama. It can be barely visible across the valley but standing below it's cliffs the rugged walls are a variety of reds, greens and blues. Click on the image for a larger view.

"The West Face" 11 x 14 (Click here to bid on eBay)

This is a scene I shot more than 5 years ago when we still lived in South Dakota, and we were on our yearly stopover in Phoenix at my sister-in-law's home. I was just starting to get back into oil painting and hadn't decided if I wanted to much in the way of landscapes, but this mountain face grabbed the setting sunlight so dramatically, that I had to try to paint it. I'm guessing I have painted Superstition at least 20 times now. Click on the image for a larger view.

"Superstition #7" 11x14 (Click here to bid on eBay)

I ran out of names for Superstition Mountain so this will be #7. It's a close location for me to get to and I never get tired of the structures in the cliff walls. Click on the image for a larger view

"Superstition #6" 11"x14" (Click here to bid on eBay)

I have painted Superstition Mountain so many times, that I now need to number them instead of trying to come up with new names. I shot this reference back in May of '08 when the vegetation was still green and in bloom. Click on the image for a larger view.

"Daytime Moon" 11 x 14 (Click here to bid on eBay)

This is my first composition from a trip I took over to Apache Junction and the famous Superstition Mountains that border Phoenix on the east side of the valley. It started out as a cloud dappled sky, but by the time the sun set, the clouds had burned off to a totally clear sky. I missed a rare monsoon that swept through the valley only two days earlier. Now that would have been interesting. Click on the image for a larger view.

"Apache Junction Afternoon" SOLD (Click here to view results on eBay)

This is yet another view of the Superstition Mountains from the meadow below the cliffs that overlook the city of Apache Junction. The land out there is dotted with open acres of desert space that has yet to have housing developments built. Click on the image for a larger view.
