On my last trip to the Grand Canyon I was lucky to have stuck around long enough for a last minute display of amazing light. It had been an overcast sky all day and I was ready to head home when the sun had finally dipped so low that it shot rays of light all across the canyon for about twenty minutes. From a trip to the Grand Canyon in November of '08, I was lucky enough to catch a really great sunset as it shot through the canyon illuminating some walls and missing others. Click on the image for a larger view.

I waited all day for the sun to come out and finally, at around 6 pm, spots of sunlight started to show up all over the floor of the canyon. One by one just about every butte and canyon got a fresh dusting of sunlight. Click on the image for a larger view.

This is another view of the Grand Canyon I shot last Friday. I should have taken a shot of the sculpted cut away they had at one of their information spots.
