       Some of the weathered trees that stand along

the edge of the Grand Canyon have some of the most

twisted bodies. You wonder if it's the wind or lack of

water that makes them stretch and lean in the directions 

that they do. This piece was painted in my studio from

shots I took at the Grand Canyon last week.

        I have painted this scene before from the 

Grand Canyon. It's what artists call the "Golden

Hour" when the sun is fleeting and you have to 

get in as many shots as you can because in an hour

it will be all gone.

    This is a scene from Monument Valley that is one

of my favorite places to visit and paint images from.

The formations here look like they are from another

planet.

  changed to a nocturne. I shot this reference a

  few years ago during the day but for this piece

I thought it would make a great night scene.

       The many shades in the light and in the 

shadows of a vanilla ice cream cone are

what's fun to analyze and paint in this 

subject.
