"Manhattan Bridge"

We spent six days in and around New
York City last week, and I was finally able
to shoot some photos of a bridge other than
the Brooklyn. The Manhattan Bridge was
third of four bridges to be built across the
East River and opened for traffic in 1909.

My recent trip to the Grand Canyon was just about ruined when
I spent most of the morning photographing the canyon from East to
West. By the time I was ready to set up and paint it started to hail!
After another two hours of rain I had enough time to shoot some
amazing afternoon scenes before I had to head home.

This is around the fifth time that I have painted a view
of the Brooklyn Bridge but it never gets old. It is so old and
iconic and looks great in any light. I'm looking forward to
doing a night scene of the bridge some day.

After my trip to Canyon de Chelly I spent the
next day at the Grand Canyon. Great weather from
7 in the morning till noon, but just when I was ready
to put away my camera and paint…it started to hail!
A half hour later it started to rain fro the next 2 hours.
Great experience but I didn't get to paint. This is
painted in my studio from one of the scenes I shot.
