"5th Avenue in the Rain"

While in New york City in 2014, it rained
both days that we had planned to visit Central
Park and the Metropolitan Art Museum. Turns
out it was great weather to do both as it is just
as fun to capture the rainy days in the Park as
much as it is to see great art out of the rain.

Painting fruit is a nice change from landscapes
because of the intense color that some have. Painting
glass is just as fun.

This is a scene of an afternoon at Lake Tahoe.
There are probably clearer days there but I love
it when the background shapes dissolve into the
color of the sky.

This was the scene I painted from life when I
visited Monterey in April, 2013. The history of
early California life was still evident with the old
wharfs and even older cobblestone side streets.
Tide was rolling out here. Its an amazing place
visit and an even better place to paint.
