    This is a scene of a coffee shop table from

somewhere in the midwest. I shot a bunch of

food still lifes back in the early 2000's that I 

painted a lot then and recently found the old 

shots to paint again.

     Canyon Lake is a huge man made lake just 

Northeast of the Phoenix Valley. I took photos

of this lake before we even moved here in 2007.

On one of our trips from our home in South Dakota

we would drive to San Diego to visit our kids and

we would stop for a day and I would explore the 

whole valley.

   This was an old set up of limes that I

photographed back in 2006 or so. The cutting

board was lost in our move to AZ but I have

a new one that will get just as aged real soon.

    I painted this scene last month from a slightly

different angle and had so much fun painting the 

dappled light on the rocks and foliage, that I had 

to try it again. Just as fun the second time!

     I was looking through old CD's to find things 

to paint when I came across an old watermelon

shoot that I created a few years ago. The glowing

translucent meat and the colors it produces has 

always fascinated me.
