While driving down from Lake Tahoe in November of '06, we drove southward through the Owen's Valley on the western side of California. I've painted four more pieces from that drive and I can't wait for May, in just four months, when I get to drive through there again. Click on the image for a larger view.

This was a scene we saw near Bishop, California as we drove down from Lake Tahoe to Phoenix, last Fall. It was late October and every view was a painting. My problem was that we always got started late every morning and lost at least five hours of daylight. Click on the image for a larger view.

This is scene from the floor of the Owens Valley in California, looking west toward the Sierra Nevada mountain range. In the southern edge of the Sierra Nevada range is Mount Whitney, the tallest mountain in the lower 48 at 14,505 feet. Just 76 miles away to the east is Death Valley, the lowest point in North America at 282 feet below sea level. Click on the image for a larger view.
