Here's my last painting of the ceramic candy bowl bunny. It's fun to paint, but three sounds like a good number to stop on, afterall, I painted just three rubber duckies and I wouldn't to be known as either the ducky or bunny painter on eBay. Click on the image for a larger view.

ReplyDeleteI want to say that you have a gift, especially when it comes to shiny things. It makes me want to go back to the realism. The last couple of years I loosened up a bit just to stretch myself. I'm like you as Kay has told me, you just can't leave it messy. I've left some that way but it kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Anyway, hats off to you!

ReplyDeleteI'm trying to loosen up because of the nice feeling you get when you get closer to a piece and you see that most of the magic of the illusion is made up of loose expresive strokes instead of tedious rendered ones. Unfortunately I'm still trying to create the smooth elegant strokes that I leave alone. Painting loose, but not sloppy is the key. Not hurring throug a piece as much as planning the shortest course with the fewest strokes. Some days I get closer to that ideal, and others I just seem to be getting further away. It's a constant battle for me.
Mick, it is my sincere belief that you could paint at least six more bunny paintings without risking your overall reputation. :-) Those rubber duckies also deserve a continuing return of your joy.......

The main thing is, whatever you enjoy painting the most is targetable fodder for your paintbrush, at least that is my rule for my own artwork.

I see it has a number of bids, so happily for youi others aren't using that restraint. !
It looks so real, you could reach out and eat a jelly bean.!!!
This is just delightful. I love the ceramic shine and it's amazing to see the looser stroke work when you view it up close.
